What is a Community Group?
Community Groups are small groups of 10 to 14 people that meet weekly in someone’s home for fellowship, Bible study, and prayer. They are for adults of all ages, stages of life, and spiritual maturity.
When and where do Groups meet?
We have groups that meet any day of the week, usually in the evenings. Most groups meet in a consistent location (the home of a group member) but some groups prefer to take turns meeting in different members’ homes.
How often do Community Groups meet?
Most groups meet weekly and a few meet every other week. Groups may vary schedules occasionally or due to vacations and holidays.
How long does each Group meeting last?
Each Community Group picks the length of time they will meet. However, most groups meet for about an hour and a half.
What goes on at a Group meeting?
Though each group differs in how they do things, many groups have a social time in the beginning, then they discuss the week’s subject matter and pray for each other. Sometimes the group will just get together for a social event such as a dinner or an outing.
What do Groups study?
The groups study lessons associated with the previous week’s sermon message. Curriculum and study questions are available on the website. Each group has a study leader, although many groups rotate the role of facilitator to lead the discussion. The material provides an opportunity to more thoroughly study Biblical references and application than is possible in the Sunday worship service.
Starter groups that form at GroupLink events initially go through an eight week get-acquainted program.
Is childcare provided during Group meetings?
Childcare is generally not provided, but some groups with young families arrange for their own childcare. Check with our Community Group coordinator when you sign up.
How do I join a Community Group?
Fill out a Communication Card at church or click here to join a Community Group. If there are currently open groups, you will be matched to one that fits your preferences best. In addition, every 10-12 weeks we offer GroupLink events to kick off new groups.
